NexGen Air Battlespace
An interactive, source-aware research atlas exploring aircraft, collaborative combat systems, mission concepts, and how they connect across the air battlespace.
Research domains
- Aerospace systems
- Research visualization
- Systems of systems
- Open-source research
Project brief
NexGen Air Battlespace is an interactive research visualization of aircraft and supporting systems, mission concepts, and relationships in modern and emerging air operations. It combines a geographic scenario view, an interactive network view, and supporting evidence and aircraft profiles.

Research features
- Interactive geographic view with aircraft silhouettes, adjustable playback, flight-heading orientation, and selectable participants.
- Network view showing aircraft, support systems, and their documented or analytical relationships.
- Mission phase timelines and aircraft details with evidence and source references.
- Research scenarios informed by public Mitchell Institute collaborative combat aircraft tabletop-exercise reporting.
Scope and limitations
The research atlas is not an operational planning system or validated combat simulation. Published tabletop-exercise concepts, actor roles, and some quantities can be source-backed, while illustrated coordinates, aircraft spacing, simulated motion, and unreported formations must be understood as explanatory reconstructions.
The aircraft and CCA catalog includes real-world aircraft as well as notional exercise variants. Generic and notional icons do not assert a verified physical aircraft design.
